<2026 청소년 리더십 & 진로 멘토십 프로젝트 상세 안내>
KOWIN OC는 어떤 조직인가요?
KOWIN OC((Korean Women’s International Network of Orange County, 미주 한민족 여성 네트워크 OC지부) 은 한국의 여성가족부(현 성평등가족부) 산하 조직입니다. 코윈 OC는 한인 여성의 역량 강화, 차세대 리더 양성, 지역 사회 공헌이라는 세 가지 미션을 가지고 일하고 있습니다. 저희 지부는 특별히 차세대 청소년들을 위한 프로그램을 운영하도록 대한민국 정부의 허가가 나서 2015년에 설립되었습니다.
KOWIN OC는 운영진 전원이 무보수 재능기부로 참여하는 비영리 단체(501(C)(3))입니다. 모든 사업은 회원들의 정성 어린 회비와 후원금으로 운영되며, 별도의 행정 소모비 없이 리더십 세미나, 청소년 에세이 장학금, 차세대 멘토링 프로그램 등 사회 공헌 활동에 전액 투명하게 사용됩니다. 여러분의 소중한 후원은 우리 사회를 밝히는 인재 양성의 밑거름이 됩니다.
KOWIN OC는 한인 청소년들에게 진로 탐색과 멘토링의 기회를 제공하는 프로그램인 <Youth Leadership and Career Mentorship Symposium> 을 준비하고 있습니다.
예상 참석인원은 약 150명입니다.
본 프로젝트는 5월 2일 열리는 심포지엄 참여를 시작으로, 학생들이 자신의 관심사에 맞춰 다양한 옵션을 선택해 포트폴리오를 쌓을 수 있도록 구성되었습니다.
행사의 구성은 1. 메인 이벤트인 ‘청소년 리더십 & 진로 멘토십 심포지엄’과 2. 4개월 프로젝트인 '청소년 리더십 & 진로 멘토십 프로젝트' 로 나눠집니다.
5월 2일 부에나 팍 교회에서 진행되는 ‘청소년 리더십 & 진로 멘토십 심포지엄’은 초등 고학년부터 대학생까지, 자신의 미래를 고민하는 모든 청소년을 위해 마련되었습니다. 프로그램은 유연하게 구성되어 멘토링 세션만 선택 참여하거나, Q&A를 포함한 전 과정에 다 참여하실 수 있습니다.
특히 이번 행사는 단순 강연을 넘어 분야별 전문가들의 토론과 Q&A를 통해 동기부여를 받고 진로를 잘 탐색하며 리더십을 함양 하는 데에 초점을 맞췄습니다. 급변하는 AI 시대에 필요한 핵심 역량과 미래 직업에 대한 통찰을 제공함으로써, 학생들이 스스로 잠재력을 발견하고 명확한 이정표를 세우는 실질적인 기회가 될 것입니다. 자녀의 진로 방향성을 고민하는 학부모님들께도 유익한 정보를 얻는 소중한 시간이 될 것입니다.
참석자 전원에게 “Certificate of Youth Leadership and Career Mentosrhip Exploration” 상이 수여됩니다.
4개월 프로젝트인 ‘청소년 리더십 & 진로 멘토십 프로젝트’는 선택적으로 원하는 것만 참여해도 되고 전부 해도 됩니다. 학생들은 자신의 목표에 따라 아래 옵션 중 원하는 활동을 자유롭게 선택할 수 있습니다. 각 프로젝트 이수 시 해당 분야의 특별 상장이 수여됩니다.

대학 원서 에세이를 쓸 때 일회성의 이벤트 참석 경험을 쓰는 것보다 하나의 주제로 길게 경험한 것을 훨씬 높게 평가합니다. 컨설팅 업체에서는 몇 천불씩 받고 호텔을 빌려서 입시 설명회 행사를 하고 학생을 모집해서 이렇게 스펙 쌓는 것을 도와 줍니다. 돈이 많은 사람들은 그렇게 해서라도 아이들을 좋은 대학에 보내고 싶어하는데 엄마들이 일하느라 바쁘거나 경제력이 안되면 해 주기 쉽지 않습니다.
행사 이후 여름 방학으로 이어지는 이 장기 프로젝트는 5월 2일 심포지엄 참여를 시작으로, 여름 방학 기간 동안 학생 스스로 참석한 행사를 바탕으로 직업에 대한 심화 탐구를 이어갈 수 있도록 설계되었습니다.
두 개의 프로그램을 통해 학생들이 단순히 행사에 참석하고 동기부여 받는 것을 넘어, 스스로 생각하고 기록하며 자신의 진로를 주도적으로 설계해 보는 실제의 경험을 통해 여름 방학 기간을 효율적으로 보내고 학교 생활도 더욱 자신감을 갖고 할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다. 4개월 프로젝트를 잘 이행할 경우, 학생의 자기주도적 역량을 증명하고 차별화된 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 자신만의 '퍼스널 포트폴리오'를 완성하게 되어 상급 학교 진학 시 강력한 스토리텔링의 자산이 되어줄 것입니다.

<2026 Youth Leadership & Career Mentorship Project>
This project begins with participation in the symposium on May 2 and is designed to help students build a meaningful portfolio by exploring their interests through structured and flexible project options.

Event: Youth Leadership & Career Mentorship Symposium
All participating students will receive a
"Certificate of Leadership & Career Exploration."
2. Program Timeline & Key Components

May 10 (Deadline): Event Coverage & Article Writing
Students will create a news-style article using photos taken during the event—such as group photos, moments of asking questions, and conversations with mentors.
This project will serve as a strong addition to each student’s personal portfolio.
(Award: Future Journalist Merit Award)

June 2 (Deadline): Q&A Participation Record
Students will document the questions they asked mentors, along with the responses, and submit a reflection on what they learned through these interactions.
(Award: Outstanding Mentee Award)

July 2 (Deadline): Reflection Essay
Students will write a 500 word essay on topics such as leadership, AI and future careers, or evolving perspectives on success.
Outstanding essays will be recognized with an award certificate.

Students will conduct an in-depth analysis of a selected mentor’s profession and submit
a 2-page report. The report should include required skills and a future preparation strategy considering the impact of AI.

One of the core goals of this initiative is to build a strong and lasting tradition within the Korean American community in the United States. Many accomplished Korean professionals, who were once mentees themselves, now generously give back by serving as mentors to the next generation across various fields. Through this cycle of mentorship, we aim to foster growth, guidance, and mutual support—not only within the Korean American community but also across the broader Asian community. We are committed to continuing this tradition by hosting this event annually.

Upon submission, certificates will be issued and selected outstanding work may also be featured on the KOWIN OC website and, if appropriate, published in newspapers.
